"Save tens of thousands of dollars by avoiding common business mistakes"

Jeffrey Taylor (602) 708-4981 or JeffreyArizona@aol.com

"Life is about cows. When you first start your own business you have no money to buy cows. So, you need to barter for your first cow. You then milk the cow and sell the milk for profit. With profit, you buy another cow and make more profit. Ultimately the market changes or collapses. You then start eating the cows. When you run out of cows, you start all over again."

Growing up in an abusive household, overcoming dyslexia, overcoming anger, depression, suicidal tendencies and in the process finding my own voice. Well that success right there. And boy did I find my voice, using that struggle successfully graduated college and now poised to change talk radio, with the same vigor and full forward thinking that changed my life.

I left a cushy Corporate America job to follow my passion. I enjoy inspiring people and helping them to see and live a better life. I focused on a niche, developed my plan and content (based on my personal experience), and then launched. Working for yourself has bigger challenges, but also bigger rewards. I own my life and my time now and the only clock I race against is the one I keep setting. In 2009 I helped over 3000 people in relationships with alcoholics and addicts, that's the power of the internet.

I have been blessed with an ongoing supply of work and new clients and some days I don't have time to sleep or eat because of the amount of work continually coming my way. I love what I do and I'm thankful for every job I get, large or small, and I love working with all of my clients. My life is never boring. I feel so blessed, and I'm all about sharing my blessings with talented writers and editors.

I have always wanted to work for myself and spent more than two decades trying to figure out how. What business could utilize my computer, business, and creative skills in such a way, that I could work from home, enjoy the work, and actually make money? Seven years ago, I figured it out and began to build a travel site for the nostalgic and historic minded. It combines my skills with a love of travel and history, featuring hundreds of pages on travel destinations and history of the American West.

Fifteen years ago I began producing and hosting a Public Access business TV show - Business Beat Live.  Little did I know that some 14 years later I would be approached by a new all business TV network to air Business Beat Live on their network in PRIME TIME!!  Having developed a talent, technique and a system to book prominent business guests who come in from all over America at their expense I had everything in place to go "big time" except the necessary funding.  Believing in the old adage that "good things come to those who are patient" I endured patience that is until early this year when an angel investor "came to the rescue."  Silence may be golden; patience is even better!!!

As an actor and producer I needed to bring in money.  I now help people and small businesses save and earn money.  I now have money and time to hop on a plane to LA for auditions. Jeffrey’s book, Going from W2 to 1099, really helped me understand many different aspects of running my own business.

I began my public relations career working for a computer software company, followed by a nonprofit performing arts organization and several prominent PR agencies in Los Angeles. I started my own company in 2001 and now specialize in media and community relations, writing, and events-planning for consumer product/service companies, health industry businesses, government and nonprofit organizations.  My advice to other entrepreneurs is: "Be patient and persistent, and remember the old cliché that good planning and good timing can bring good luck.  Constantly evaluate your business and the marketplace to offer services that clients need; be open to new opportunities; and, be ready to take action."

On a visit to Austin I was invited to the liars club, a men's meeting group. As there are no coincidences I saw God's hand in the work and that I was exactly where I am supposed to be doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing. My wish is to be of maximum service to God and to my fellows for when we are in the service of our fellows are we not in the service of our God? I know this information has the ability to help one person recover from a hopeless state of mind body and spirit.

To be honest, Jeffrey, I'm still on that journey. The biggest part of any success is paving the road before you, laying the foundation for your success to thrive, and build upon it.  Moving myself from managing restaurants to real estate as the housing bubble burst would have been career suicide for most anyone, but I put in place an internet strategy and held myself to it, regardless of outcome.  I would not call myself successful by any stretch of imagination, but I believe I am certainly on the right path.

on Business Beat Live with John Troland

A New Book By Jeffrey Taylor

Listen to a personal message from Jeffrey Taylor

Despite signs the recession may have bottomed out, economists warn it could take several years for the depressed job market to recover. Some economic prognosticators say the lackluster labor market could rebound by 2011, while others say it will take several years — anywhere from 2014 to 2016 — for jobs to recover.
Experts say that consumer spending should improve in first-quarter 2010 and business spending should rebound in the second quarter. A continuation of the first-time home-buyer federal tax credit and low interest rates could help spur real estate and construction jobs.

What to do about the long-term unemployed?

Rutgers University recently interviewed unemployed people who were willing to discuss their abrupt dismissals, abandoned careers, and dwindling options.

Select facts from the survey:

60& of the unemployed got no notice - they were let go on the spot
84% got no severance pay
56% are without unemployment insurance
34% have increased their credit card debt
25% missed a mortgage or rent payment
77% say they are stressed
58% report strain in family relationships
55 % are angry
47% say they have no chance of finding new work
75% have to think seriously about changing their field or career

A New Book By Jeffrey Taylor

Thank you so much, Jeffrey, for your neat-looking book, and for autographing it for us!   I love the A - Z idea, and am looking forward to getting into it. I have read some little snippets already, and I know I am going to enjoy it, and hopefully (though I am no entrepreneur!) I will get something out of it.

Not everyone who gets laid off from a job is unhappy about it. Four in 10 U.S. workers who have lost their jobs in this recession, or are in a relationship with someone who has, say it was a blessing in disguise. About 39% of people who say they or their spouse or significant other has been laid off since December 2007 found the layoff to be a positive thing.

So what has happened to make these folks view a job layoff in such positive terms? About 27% say that they have found better jobs, 21% said losing their job motivated them to return to school and 16% said they switched to a career they have always wanted to pursue. Some of those career changers are even striking out on their own to test the waters of entrepreneurship.

Of course many of those people were upset and angry when they found out they were out of a job. With the unemployment rate around 9.5%, many people are understandably worried about their chances of finding a new job and managing their household bills after getting the ax. However, once people began to get used to the idea of being without a job, many used their newfound freedom to pursue activities they enjoyed. About 49% of folks polled said they were able to reconnect with family and friends, 36% said they were pursuing personal hobbies and interests and 16% were doing volunteer work.

Many people also reported improvements in how they handle their household, including 62% who said they were learning how to get by with less and 36% who were spending more time developing goals as a family.
